What are you thankful for?
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we’re gearing up for the holidays at Bluehost! Did you know that BlueHost is the #1 recommended web hosting provider on WordPress.org? They think we are pretty nifty.
Why? Bluehost’s servers are specifically designed to run WordPress like a dream, giving you the proven performance, reliability, and functionality you need. We have designed our hosting services around the WordPress platform, so we think WordPress is pretty nifty too!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we want to share with you our top 10 reasons to be thankful for WordPress.
1) It’s free and supports open source
WordPress is free in two ways—it costs nothing to use the platform and it’s completely open source. WordPress is an open source project that supports the growth of people worldwide. Bluehost is also proud to support and contribute to the open source community. Open source software means you have the freedom to use, modify, build upon, and redistribute the software how you need it.
Curious to know why WordPress is free? Check out this great article.
2) Easy peasy
Because the platform is free, it’s super easy to get started. All you need to do is install it on your computer and you’re set! So many websites are powered by WordPress, because it’s user-friendly. You do not have to be a website developer to use it. By the way, Bluehost makes installation easy for our WordPress hosting customers with our 1-click installation.
3) Works well with others
If you need the ability to connect other platforms to your site to add functionality, WordPress is a great choice. It easily integrates with other platforms like the email marketing platform Constant Contact and the ecommerce stores created through WooCommerce. This gives you tons of options to make your site fit your needs.
4)  Endless customization options
There are thousands of attractive WordPress themes to choose from for your site design. There are both free themes and themes that cost money. Within these themes there are more options such as site colors, fonts, etc. to customize your site and make it unique to you.
On top of the vast array of themes, there are thousands of plugins available to add different functions to the site. Some examples include site optimization, ecommerce solutions, and contact forms,
5) Optimal SEO
WordPress makes it easy for search engines to crawl web pages and determine the context of your site for web searches. This is important if you are setting up a new business and want to grow your web traffic.
6) WordPress has your back
WordPress was started as a community project and is not owned by anyone. Thousands of people have worked on it since 2001 when it started. So it naturally has a great support community. If you go online you will find a limitless supply of WordPress forums and communities that provide advice for any issue you may be experiencing with your site. There are also many resources available to learn about new features and skills so you become more proficient at using the platform.
7) Looks good no matter what
Let’s look at some mobile usage stats. It is predicted that between 2017 and 2021, global mobile data traffic will expand sevenfold. Early in 2017, mobile devices accounted to 49.74 percent of web pageviews worldwide. Global mobile commerce revenue is forecasted to increase from just over 170 billion dollars in 2016 to almost 695 billion in 2019!
These trends confirm how important it is to have a responsive website (designed to be viewed on different devices). Most themes available for WordPress are designed to be automatically responsive. There are also several responsive plugins available to choose from.
8) Security
There’s no doubt that there are internet villains hanging out on the web. Whether it’s a bored hacker looking to cause mischief or a sophisticated scammer looking to steal personal information, you need your site to be protected from these threats.
There are several security plugins you can download and content on the web to help you make your WordPress site more secure.
9) Easy site management
After you build your site, you will need to manage it. This includes things like adding new content or a new page. WordPress has a single dashboard, giving you one central place to manage everything on your site. You will also receive email updates for any updates made to the platform so you won’t be caught by surprise.
10) WordPress loves us!
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, BlueHost is the #1 recommended hosting provider for WordPress by WordPress.org! We’ve been working with WordPress since 2005 to optimize our hosting platform for WordPress sites to give users a seamless experience. With our one-click WordPress installation for BlueHost accounts, 24/7 support, and a money back guarantee, we do everything in our power to guarantee your satisfaction.
We are very thankful for our long and productive relationship with WordPress and for all of our great customers!
From all of us at BlueHost, we wish you a very happy holiday season.

WordPress is a great platform. As its open sourced, there is no dearth of themes and plugins. A website can be started with a very minimum amount.
