How to Reset Joomla Password: Methods for Password Recovery

  1. Go to your login page at http://example.com/index.php/component/users/?view=login.
    Please replace 'example.com' with your actual domain and installation location.
  2. On the login form, click the Forgot Your Password link.
  3. Enter the admin email address of the account you're trying to access.
  4. Click Submit to have the password sent to your email address.

Reset Joomla Password Using phpMyAdmin

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager.
  2. Once logged in, find and click the Hosting tab on the left side of your Account Manager dashboard.

  3. Choose the Hosting Package name you want to manage under the All My Hosting Packages section.

    • If you have multiple Hosting packages on your account, click the MANAGE button on the Hosting package you want to manage.
    • If you only have a single Hosting package on your account, you will be rerouted to the Hosting Overview page.
  4. Under Quick Links in Server Information, click on CPANEL.

  5. Look for the Databases section, then click phpMyAdmin.

  6. Click on the Joomla database from the list on the left.

    • If Joomla is installed through QuickInstall, this would be named jmln#.
    • If Joomla is installed via Softacuolous, the database will be named joomla878.
  7. Click joom_users on the list.

  8. Under username, you will see the list of registered users. Click edit Under the user for which you want to reset the password.

  9. Look for Password varchar(100),  then clear the value on the far right.

  10. Enter your Preferred password. Then, in the drop-down, select MD5 to encrypt your password.

  11. At the bottom of the page, click GO.
  12. Log in now to the admin account using your new password.

Reset Joomla Password Using Softaculous

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager.
  2. Once logged in, find and click the Hosting tab on the left side of your Account Manager dashboard.

  3. Choose the Hosting Package name you want to manage under the All My Hosting Packages section. 
    • If you have multiple Hosting packages on your account, click the MANAGE button on the Hosting package you want to manage.
    • If you only have a single Hosting package on your account, you will be rerouted to the Hosting Overview page. 
  4. Under Quick Links in Server Information, click on CPANEL.

  5. Click the Softaculous App Installer tool under the Software section.

  6. On the Softaculous page, click on the Installations box.

  7. Under the Current Installs section, choose the user you want to manage by ticking the box.
  8. Click the Edit Details (✏️) icon.

  9. Scroll down to the Admin Account section.
  10. Enter the username and preferred password on the Username and Password fields.

  11. Click the Save Installation Details button to change the password for the selected user.
