Builder - How to Link a Domain

When you're ready to publish, Builder will assign your site a temporary URL. You can choose a custom domain name (if you own one) at this time, or later on.

Please note: If you choose a domain that is currently assigned to an existing site, publishing your Bluehost Builder site to that domain WILL overwrite all of the current site content. It is strongly recommended that you back up any content you wish to keep prior to publishing over an existing website.

Linking a Domain

You can link a domain to your site when you publish, or at any time afterward.

Assigning a Domain During Publication

To begin, you will need to access the Bluehost Builder Editor. Once you are ready to publish your site:
  1. Click the Publish button towards the top right corner of your screen.
  2. You will see a progress window pop up. Once published, this will display your temporary URL (until a domain is assigned).
  3. Click the Choose Domain button.
  4. Select your preferred domain from the drop-down.

Only domains assigned to your Bluehost account will show up on this list.

  5. Click the Connect this domain button.

For more information about publishing your website, please see Bluehost Builder - How to Publish your Website.

Changing the Domain Assigned to your Builder

If you need to change the domain after you've published your site, you can do so from the Bluehost Builder Settings tab. To access the Settings tab, you will need to be signed in to your Bluehost account.

  1. Open the My Sites tab from the side navigation menu to the left.
  2. Locate the Bluehost Builder site you wish to update the name for, and click the Manage Site button.
  3. Open the Settings tab.
  4. Click on the Change domain button.
  5. Select your preferred domain from the drop-down.

Only domains assigned to your Bluehost account will show up on this list.

  6. Click the Connect this domain button.

You will need to publish your website to see your domain changes reflected live.
