Builder - How to Create and Manage Menus

Your menu is a critical part of your website experience. An organized menu provides your visitors with an easy way to navigate your website. This article will walk you through:

Adding a Menu

To begin, you will need to access the Bluehost Builder Editor.
  1. Click the 'Pages'  icon towards the top left corner of your screen.
  2. Another option is to access it is from the 'Page: Home' drop-down menu. Once you click the drop-down, click the Manage Pages.

Here, you can add items, duplicate items, delete items, and set page titles and descriptions for SEO

Adding Menu Items

  1. Click New Page; it will provide us an option to create a new page or external link.

  2. Choose if the item you are adding will be an external link or a page.

    • Page: Type here your page name. The Page URL will autofill depending on what you enter in Page Name, but you can update it if needed.
    • External Link: Name your menu item, and enter the URL you would like to send visitors.
  3. Click Apply when finished. 

Editing Menu Items

You can edit different settings depending on whether you're updating an Internal Page or an External Link.
  1. Click any page or link you want to edit, select theicon.

  2. Then select Settings to edit.

Here, you can update the Page and SEO settings.
Page Settings
  1. Click the name of the page, click on the icon.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Make necessary updates to your Page Name or Page URL.

    Note: Your Page Name is how it will show up in your menu. Your Page URL is how it will show up in an address bar (i.e., www.example.com/this-is-my-page-url).

  4. Click Save when finished. 
SEO Settings
  1. Click the name of the page, click on the icon.
  2. Select Settings, then once the page settings show up, click the SEO tab.
  3. Make necessary updates to your Page Title or Description.
  4. You will see a preview of how these SEO settings will look in a search result.

    Note: This may take some time to update.

  5. Click Save when finished. 

External Link

For External Links, you can update the URL and customize how it will appear on your menu.
  1. From the Manage Pages menu to the right,  select the external link you want to edit.
  2. Click the icon, then select the settings option. 
  3. Update the Name and/or Web Address as needed.
  4. Click Save when finished.

Duplicating Menu Items

  1. Click any page or link, then on the right side, click on the icon.
  2. Select the Duplicate icon to copy the page.
  3. Edit and re-order as needed, then click Save when finished.

Creating Sub-Menu Items

Sometimes, a website will become so expansive that it can be helpful to include sub-navigation or sub-menus. At this time, Bluehost Builder does not support the creation of sub-navigation. This may change, so check this article often for updates!

Re-ordering Menu Items

  1. To re-order a menu item at any time, click the ⋮⋮ icon on the right side of the item name.
  2. Drag and drop the item to your desired spot.

Deleting Menu Items

  1. Click any page or link. Once selected, click the ⋮ icon.
  2. Click the Delete icon to remove the item. 

Note: Pages cannot be restored once deleted.

Updates will reflect within your Bluehost Builder immediately; however, you should still Save or Publish your site when finished.
