One of the most important and difficult decisions for online advertisers is about the size of their advertising budget.

First of all, there is no universally "right" daily budget that fits each and every one.

There are various factors such as your business goals, industry, keywords, max. CPC, target area and more which all play a role in setting a suitable budget.

Based on our experience, most campaigns achieve great results with a daily budget of $50.

With a sufficient budget, we can strategically allocate the budget to the best performing keywords, optimize your campaigns, and successfully drive traffic to your page.

If you have a lower budget, it's less likely that you will successfully compete in Google's auction-based advertising system and get new customers to your website.

In the end, it's important that you start out with an amount that you’re comfortable with spending each day or month.

How do you use my daily budget for my campaign?

Advertising one landing page results in two Search campaigns in Google Ads based on a shared budget. The shared budget is the same as the daily budget you have set during the setup. It is the highest amount that you feel comfortable spending per day on your ads.

Depending on your ad performance and the search traffic, the total daily cost of your campaigns can be up to twice your daily budget. This means your campaign is spending more of your daily budget on days with higher search traffic and less on days with lower traffic. Why does my budget get so quickly exhausted?

When you run ads on Google, you're only charged when someone clicks your ad. Therefore, it is not necessarily a bad thing having an exhausted budget because it tells you that your ads generated clicks and attracted website visitors. Nonetheless, here are common reasons why your daily budget might get exhausted faster than you expected.

  • Budget too low
    Your budget is set too low for the keywords that you are bidding on. If you have set your budget so low that the cost for a few clicks already exceeds your campaign budget, your budget might get depleted very quickly and your ads will not be shown. When this happens, your campaign status will show “Limited by budget” in your Google Ads account. You'll also see a red notification banner saying “Balance is exhausted” in your Google Ads account. Click on the banner and follow the detailed steps to get your ads back on track.
  • Target location too broad
    If your targeted location is very broad, it can happen that many people trigger your keywords through their search queries and end up clicking your ads. In this case, we suggest narrowing down your target area so your budget doesn't get diluted by an audience that is too large.
