ecomdash - How to Add and Manage Products and Inventory
To use ecomdash, you will need to import your products. There are two ways you can do this: you can Download Listings or Upload an Inventory File. This article will walk you through importing products and managing your inventory.
Add Products
Download Listings
When you perform a listing download, ecomdash will import all active products from the specified sales channel, organizing them by SKU number. Once you have connected to your sales platform(s):
- Click the 'Actions' (lightning bolt) icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Select Download Listings from the drop-down menu that appears.
- Select your storefront, then click Download.
You can select listing downloads for multiple storefronts at once; however, only one will be processed at a time. If you don't see a checkbox for a storefront, this means you already requested a listing download for that option.
Import Inventory File
If you have a CSV file, you can use it to import your product information. Before you can import (or export) CSV files, you will need to Build an Import/Export Inventory Format for the file(s) you are uploading. Once created:
- Click the 'Actions' (lightning bolt) icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Select Upload Inventory from the drop-down menu that appears.

- Browse to select the inventory file.
- Select the inventory format that you have created for this file.
- Designate how ecomdash should handle products using an existing SKU:
- Perform No Action: Most commonly used when adding new products to your ecomdash inventory.
- Overwrite Existing Product Details with File: Used when adding updated or new information to existing products in ecomdash.
If you are uploading an inventory file to bulk update products, you must select this option.
- Increase Existing Product Quantity with File: Used when adding quantity to existing products.
- Add any tags you would like applied.
- Click Upload to begin the import.
Manage Products
Check Status Inventory Upload
To view the status of your inventory upload:
- Click the Products menu, then choose All Products from the drop-down.
- Click the View History menu, then select Upload Inventory from the drop-down.
Update Inventory
In ecomdash, you will be able to update the following product information at any time:
- Quantity
- Supplier
- UPC Code
There are three ways product details can be updated:
Update Individually
- Click the Products menu, then choose All Products from the drop-down.
- Click the Actions menu next to the product you wish to update, then select View from the drop-down menu.
- Make any necessary updates in Product Details.
- Click the Actions menu, then select Save when you are finished.
Bulk Edit
Bulk Edit can be used to update one field for up to 250 products simultaneously. To do so:
- Click the Products menu, then choose All Products from the drop-down.
- Check the box next to each product you would like to include in the update.
- Click the Bulk Actions menu, then choose Bulk Edit from the drop-down.
- Choose the field you would like to update, select a Supplier, and Save changes.
Export Inventory
Before you can import (or export) CSV files, you will need to Build an Import/Export Inventory Format for the file(s) you are uploading. Once created:
- Click the Products menu, then choose All Products from the drop-down.
- Check the box next to each product you would like to include in the export.
- Click the Bulk Actions menu, then choose Export Selected Inventory from the drop-down.
- Select the Export Format you wish to use, then click the Export button.
- Updating product information in your ecomdash inventory will not affect your listing information for those products.
- If you update the SKU # field, you'll also need to update the SKU number directly on your sales channel so ecomdash can continue to recognize and update that product quantity.
Summary
ecomdash provides flexible options for importing and managing your product inventory, whether through downloading listings from connected storefronts or uploading CSV files. Once products are added, you can easily update details individually, in bulk, or via file uploads, and export inventory as needed. Remember that changes in ecomdash do not automatically update your storefront listings, and any SKU changes must also be reflected on your sales channels to maintain accurate syncing.
