OSCommerce: Lost Password

To reset OSCommerce password, you'll need to delete the existing administrator account and create a new one through phpMyAdmin within cPanel. Refer to our step-by-step guide below for detailed instructions.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Resetting Your Password

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager.
  2. Click the Hosting tab on the left menu.

  3. Scroll down and look for the Quick Links tile on the right side of the page, then click the CPANEL button.

  4. Within cPanel, scroll down to Databases and select phpMyAdmin.

  5. You will be taken to phpMyAdmin. On the left side, choose your OSCommerce database name (for example, _osc1).

  6. Under Table, select administrators, then click Empty under the Action column.

  7. You will be prompted, "Do you really want to: TRUNCATE TABLE 'administrators'?" Click the OK button to remove your administrator account.
  8. Now, return to your OSCommerce site and try to log in to the admin area. The site will state that there's no current user so that you can be the first.
  9. Enter your desired admin name and password into the login area, and click the Login button.
  10. Nothing will seem to happen, but your site just accepted your submission as the new administrator user.
  11. Log in again with the newly created administrator username and password you just entered previously.


To reset a lost OSCommerce password, the process involves accessing your hosting account's cPanel and using phpMyAdmin to delete the existing administrator account. After this deletion, a new administrator account will be created when you attempt to log into the OSCommerce admin area. This method ensures you can regain control of your OSCommerce site without the need for the original password.
