What is a Chargeback?
A chargeback is a process by which a customer disputes a transaction with their bank or credit card provider, typically due to fraud, an error, dissatisfaction with the product or service. When a chargeback is initiated, the funds from the transaction are reversed from the merchant’s account Bluehost and returned to the customer. Chargebacks are meant to protect clients from unauthorized or faulty transactions, but they can be costly for merchants, as they often involve fees and may negatively affect their reputation or ability to accept future payments.
What happens to your account after a Chargeback has been submitted.
- After a Chargeback has been submitted and is posted, the account will be suspended. Please note that the suspension process is unavoidable and is automated once our billing system has received the chargeback claim.
- Clients who have submitted a chargeback have 29 days to resolve the payment conflict. On day 30 products associated with the chargeback will be deleted and will not be retrievable.
- To have your account reactivated, you have two options. You may either choose to have the product deleted from your account or repay for the charged-back items.
