SeedProd allows users to create a Coming Soon page, Maintenance page, Login page, 404 page, landing page, and more using simple drag and drop\u00a0tools. The plugin is trusted by over\u00a01 million users\u00a0worldwide and is available in 21 languages.<\/p>\n

Steps to Setup WordPress Maintenance Mode Using Seedprod\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Step 1<\/strong>:\u00a0Log\u00a0in<\/a>\u00a0to your Bluehost dashboard using your credentials.\u00a0Next, go to the \u2018My Sites\u2019 tab on the left-hand sidebar and click on \u2018Manage site\u2019<\/p>\n

Step 2<\/strong>:\u00a0Click on the \u2018Log in to WordPress\u2019 button to enter the WordPress backend dashboard<\/p>\n

Step 3<\/strong>:\u00a0Once the WordPress backend dashboard\u00a0opens,\u00a0scroll down and click on \u2018Plugins\u2019 on the left-hand sidebar and click on \u2018Add New\u2019 and search \u2018Maintenance Mode\u2019 in the keyword search box<\/p>\n

Several plugins will be displayed but we want to install SeedProd.\u00a0Search SeedProd and\u00a0click on \u2018Install Now\u2019 and install the plugin. For more details, see our article on\u00a0how to install a plugin in WordPress<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Step 4<\/strong>:\u00a0After you\u2019ve installed and activated the SeedProd plugin,\u00a0on the left-hand sidebar\u00a0go to SeedProd \u2013> Pages and click the button \u2018Set up a Maintenance Mode Page\u2019<\/p>\n

Step 5<\/strong>:\u00a0Next, the template window opens. There are several free and premium templates available for you to choose from. Click on the template of your choice to modify it. For our website, we chose the third option viz. \u2018Down Maintenance Mode\u2019.<\/p>\n

Step 6<\/strong>:\u00a0The following drag and drop page builder\u00a0window\u00a0opens. You can either keep everything as it is or customize the page to suit your website viz. changing the button or background\u00a0colour, image, video, adding logo, etc. Once satisfied, click on \u2018Save\u2019 to save your maintenance mode page.<\/p>\n

Step 7<\/strong>:\u00a0Now, it is time to enable your maintenance mode page. On the SeedProd Pages page, toggle the maintenance mode button to \u2018Active\u2019<\/p>\n

Step 8<\/strong>:\u00a0To view how your website looks, type the URL in\u00a0a different browser and load your website<\/p>\n

(Note<\/strong>:\u00a0We used a different browser as we\u2019re still logged in our Bluehost account on our current browser, and it won\u2019t show the maintenance mode page until we logout)<\/p>\n

2. Without a Plugin\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Although setting up maintenance mode on your WordPress website is a simple and\u00a0straightforward way\u00a0to make changes to your site without affecting user experience.\u00a0Nevertheless, if your website receives heavy traffic\u00a0or taking your website down might affect your revenue generation,\u00a0then\u00a0putting your WP website in maintenance mode is not the\u00a0ideal\u00a0solution. In such a case, you can setup a staging site where you can make all the changes and test them before rolling them out to your main website.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Bluehost<\/a>, you can easily setup\u00a0a\u00a0staging environment for your website. To setup a staging site, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

Step 1<\/strong>:\u00a0Go to your WordPress backend dashboard<\/p>\n
