How to Create Email Forwarders: Account and Domain Forwarder

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up both email account forwarders and email domain forwarders using cPanel or Webmail. By following these guidelines, you can effortlessly redirect emails to various addresses or even several recipients, guaranteeing you won't overlook any significant messages.



What are Email Forwarders?

Email Forwarders allow you to create an email address automatically, sending incoming emails to another address. This feature is useful if you want to manage emails sent to several addresses without needing a separate account for each one. It also lets multiple email addresses receive the same email. You can set the server to delete certain emails or send them to a program for further processing.

Create Email Forwarder

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager
  2. Click the Hosting tab from the side navigation.

  3. Under the All My Hosting Packages section, select the name of the hosting package you wish to manage;
    • If you have multiple Hosting packages associated with your account, click the MANAGE button for the specific Hosting package you want to manage.
    • If you have only one Hosting package, you will be redirected to the Hosting Overview page.
  4. Scroll to the Quick Links section in Server Information, and click CPANEL EMAIL.

  5. Select Forwarders in the cPanel Email pop-up shortcuts to manage your server's email tools with cPanel.

  6. Click the Continue button to redirect you to cPanel Forwarders.

Email Account Forwarders

Email Account forwarders will forward all emails from one email account to another.

  1. Click the Add Forwarder button.

  2. Enter the email username you wish to forward, and select your email account's domain name from the Domain drop-down menu.

  3. Set your preferred email forwarding Destination using the options below:

    • Forward to email address — Enter the email account to which you would like to forward your messages.
    • Discard and send an error to the sender (at SMTP time) — This option sends an error notification to the sender, informing them that their email was not delivered. This allows them to resend the message or verify if the recipient's email address was entered incorrectly.
    • Advanced Options
      • Forward to a system account
      • Pipe to a program
      • Discard (Not Recommended)
  4. Click the  Add Forwarder button.

Email Domain Forwarders

Domain Forwarders forward all emails from one domain name to another. It only forwards emails when the system cannot deliver them to an address or autoresponder.

  1. Click the Add Domain Forwarder button.

  2. Choose your source domain from the Domain drop-down menu.

  3. Enter the destination domain in the second box.

  4. Click the Add Domain Forwarder.
