Navigating the Domain Security Tab

The Security tab in the Domains' panel of the Account Manager has been improved to provide more security management features for your domain.

Beyond keeping your information private and preventing identity theft and fraud, we scan for malware and monitor blacklists as we send you immediate alerts if critical domain statuses change.

In this article, we will walk you through the following topics:

Set Up SMS Security Alerts

Real-time alerting keeps you aware of critical changes to your account or domain so you can take quick, corrective action. You can receive an SMS alert each time there is a change in the following:

  • Domain Privacy
  • Transfer lock status
  • Advanced DNS records
  • Domain contact information

Follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Domains.

    • If you have one domain in your account, you will be taken directly to the domain management panel.

    • If you have multiple domains in your account, click the domain you wish to manage to access the domain management panel.

  1. Click the Security tab.

  2. Use the toggle switch to enable or disable the SMS Security Alerts.

  3. For the settings, click Manage.

  4. In the pop-up, select the services you would like to receive alerts for, and then click SAVE. If you do not wish to receive SMS alerts for a service, uncheck the corresponding box.

Change Security Alerts Phone Number

Follow the steps below if you want to receive the notifications from a different phone number.

  1. Click Manage under the SMS Security Alerts.

  2. Click CHANGE under "Your alerts are being sent to:."

  3. Put in the new phone number, and click NEXT.

  4. Enter the verification code sent to your phone number, then click VERIFY.

Manage Malware Scanning

The SiteLock section under the Domain's Security tab allows you to conveniently manage malware scanning.

  • Turn SiteLock Scanning On or Off: You can easily toggle the SiteLock scanner on or off.

    It is highly recommended that you always leave it ON.

  • Manage SiteLock: You can quickly manage their SiteLock service by clicking the Manage link.

  • Upgrade SiteLock: You also have the option to upgrade their SiteLock plan by clicking the Upgrade Plan link.
