How to create an SSH/SFTP user on Cloud
Bluehost Cloud provides secure file transfer and management for all of its Cloud accounts with the provision of SSH and SFTP access. An SSH or SFTP account has to be created for every Cloud website, as they are not generated by default. Learning to create an SSH or SFTP account is more secure, and each website would have its own unique access credentials.
Bluehost Cloud provides SSH/SFTP for all Cloud accounts. Non-secure or Regular FTP is not supported.
Creating SSH and SFTP User
- Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager.
- Select the Hosting tab on the left navigation menu, then click the MANAGE button for the website you want to modify to navigate the website Overview page.
- Click on the SSH/SFTP tab. This tab will provide the SSH/SFTP server (ssh.atomicsites.net). It will also allow you to view and manage the available SSH users.
- Click the ADD SSH USER button.
- The client has the option to Enable Password Login, SSH Key, or both.
The new SSH user will be visibile on the SSH/SFTP page and will be ready to use immediately.
Summary
Bluehost Cloud offers SSH/SFTP access for all accounts. This is testamentary to its security and efficient file management. The process of creating and maintaining SSH/SFTP accounts per website is straightforward; however, it is done through your Bluehost Account Manager for secure and immediate access to your sites. As indicated, SSH usernames have to be unique to the server, so if there exists a conflict with one on the list, you will select another.
