Hosting Renewal FAQ

Q: What's the difference between these plans?

A: To know more about this, you may visit the following articles for more information and comparison: Choosing the Right Hosting PlatformShared Hosting Plans ComparisonVPS Plans ComparisonDedicated Hosting Plans ComparisonWordPress Hosting, and Managed WordPress.

Q: Why is my renewal price more than I've been paying?

A: When you renew, moving to a higher payment is confusing. If your renewal price is higher, we offer a promotion for your initial plan term. That promotion was for a limited time and isn't valid for renewals

Q: How long is my hosting plan renewed good for?

A: Your plan will automatically renew for the same time as your original plan.

Q: Can I switch to a different plan?

A: Yes. You can switch your current plan to a different plan anytime before your expiration date or after renewal. The only time you can't change plans is on the actual date your plan expires.

Q: What if, for instance, I want to cancel my account?

A: If you're canceling your hosting account before the end of your plan's term or downgrading the account to a term for less than a year, Bluehost deducts the amount covered by your domain coupon. This is to cover our costs for registering your new domain on your behalf for a year. The rest of your payment is refunded to you. It should appear in your bank statement about 5-7 business days after it's processed (the exact date changes from bank to bank).
You will retain domain ownership until the end of its registration period. If you had a domain coupon tied to your hosting plan, that coupon would no longer be valid, and you may become responsible for covering the cost of your domain. Suppose you are responsible for the domain cost, and a refund applies to your hosting account. In that case, the domain's cost will be subtracted from your refund amount.

Q: I have add-ons. What is their renewal pricing?

A: Some of our add-ons have promotional pricing, and some do not. Please see Hosting Addons: Renewal Pricing for renewal information.

Q: What is the longest time I can purchase hosting?

A: 36 months is the longest plan for hosting.

    Domain Renewal FAQ

Q: How long will my domain renewal last?

A: Your domain renewal will last until its original expiration date. Then it will automatically renew for 12 months after that expiration date.

Q: What if, for instance, I want to cancel my domain?

A: Unfortunately, domain renewal fees are non-refundable. To make sure you don't auto-renew next year, go into your account, and under Domains/Manage/Renewal, make sure "auto-renew" is not selected.

Q: My domain expired. What happens now?

A: We'll save it for you within thirty (30) days after the expiration date, and you can renew your registration during that time for the regular renewal price. After thirty (30) days, your domain goes into a redemption period. The redemption period lasts 45-60 days. During redemption, you can redeem your domain for the usual renewal price plus an additional fee (the Registrar and Domain Registry set that fee). While your domain is in the redemption period, it can also be purchased by a 3rd party for auction. Suppose the domain isn't redeemed or bought within the redemption period. In that case, it's submitted to the registry for deletion. It will be unrecoverable until it's released for anyone to register.

Q: I have add-ons. What is their renewal pricing?

A: Some of our add-ons have promotional pricing. Check here for addon renewal information.

Q: What is the longest time I can register a domain for?

A: After you sign up for domain registration, you can add up to 9 additional years of domain registration.
