Q: Why is my renewal price more than what I've been paying?

A: We understand that it's confusing to move to a higher payment when you renew. If your renewal price is higher, it's because we offered a promotion for your initial plan term. That promotion was for a limited time and isn't valid for renewals.

Q: How long is my hosting plan renewed for?

A: Your plan will automatically renew for the same amount of time as your original plan.

Q: Can I switch to a different plan?

A: Yes, you can switch to a different plan anytime before your expiration date or after renewal. The only time you can't switch plans is on the actual date your plan expires.

Q: What if I want to cancel my account?

A: If you're canceling your hosting account before the end of your plan's term or downgrading your account to a term for less than a year, Bluehost deducts the amount covered by your domain coupon. This is to cover our costs for registering your new domain on your behalf for a year. The rest of your payment is refunded to you and should show up in your bank statement about 5-7 business days after it's processed (exact date changes from bank to bank).
You will retain ownership of your domain until the end of its registration period. If you had a domain coupon tied to your hosting plan, that coupon would no longer be valid, and you may become responsible for covering the cost of your domain. If you are responsible for domain cost and a refund applies to your hosting account, the domain's cost will be subtracted from your refund amount.

Q: What is the longest amount of time I can purchase hosting for?

A: 36 months is the longest plan for hosting.

Q: How long will my domain renewal last?

A: Your domain renewal will last until its original date of expiration, and then it will automatically renew for 12 months after that expiration date.

Q: What if I want to cancel my domain?

A: Unfortunately, domain renewal fees are nonrefundable. To make sure you don't auto-renew next year, go into your account, and under Domains/Manage/Renewal, make sure "auto-renew" is not selected.

Q: My domain expired. What happens now?

A: We’ll save it for you within 30 days after the expiration date, and you can renew registration during that time for the regular renewal price.
After that 30 days, your domain goes into a redemption period. The redemption period lasts 45-60 days. During redemption, you can redeem your domain for the usual renewal price, plus an additional fee (that fee is set by the Registrar and Domain Registry). While your domain is in the redemption period, it can also be purchased by a 3rd party for auction. If the domain isn't redeemed or bought within the redemption period, it's submitted to the registry for deletion and will be unrecoverable until it's released for anyone to register.

A: After you sign up for domain registration, you can add up to 9 additional years of domain registration.
