Understanding Name Servers for Your Reseller Account
In November 2014, Bluehost announced it would no longer accept new shared Reseller hosting sign-ups. Bluehost announced a partnership with ResellerClub wherein Bluehost is recommending ResellerClub as the hosting partner of choice for Reseller hosting.
Name servers translate your website address (domain name) into an IP address. This connection makes your website accessible on the internet and helps direct traffic to your website.
Reseller Hosting Name Servers
By default, a domain purchased through Bluehost for your Reseller Hosting account will use our name servers:
Bluehost Name Servers | |
ns1.rhostbh.com | 162.88.60.27 |
ns2.rhostbh.com | 162.88.61.27 |
If you purchased your domain from another registrar, you must manually define your name servers with your current registrar. You can either use the ones listed above or use custom name servers.
Custom Name Servers for Reseller Account
To use custom name servers, you must first register them with your current registrar. If you do not, you will see an error such as "nameservers not recognized". Many registrars call these "Registering Hosts" or "Child Name Servers." Once these are created, customers can utilize your custom name server entries for any domain they host under your Reseller Hosting account.
You may check if your registrar has registered your custom name servers using the "Nameserver" option on the InterNIC whois search. This tool will check for Global Top Level Domains. (aero, .arpa, .asia, .biz, .cat, .com, .coop, .edu, .info, .int, .jobs, .mobi, .museum, .name, .net, .org, .pro, or .travel).
