How to Update Your Contact Email Address

The contact email address on your account is a significant detail that allows the email account holder to receive important updates, billing notices, and more. Most importantly, the email account holder has the ability to change the main account password, which gives them full possession of the account. For these reasons, it is critical that the email address on file belongs to the account owner.

Update your Contact Email Address

Update your contact email address by following these steps:

Note: Legacy accounts will feature a horizontal navigation bar at the top of the screen, while Bluerock account users will see a vertical navigation menu on the left-hand side of the screen. If you are still unsure what interface your account uses, please see Bluerock vs. Legacy to determine which step to follow.


  1. Log in to your Bluehost cPanel account.
  2. Click the Account icon in the top right-hand corner, then choose Profile from the drop-down.
  3. On the Profile page, under Contact Information, enter your new email address. 
  4. Click Save Changes.

  1. Log in to your Bluehost cPanel account.
  2. Go to the Account menu.
  3. On the Profile page, under Contact Information, enter your new email address. 
  4. Scroll down and click Update.

We highly recommend using an email address that is not associated with your hosting account.

Update By Phone

If you no longer have access to the contact email address and cannot remember your main account password to log in and update it manually, we'll be happy to assist you over the phone. However, we require verification to ensure that the hosting account owner is the one requesting the change for your protection. In addition, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. It should be the person whose name* is on the account.
  2. Should be calling from the phone number in the account.
  3. Verify the current contact email address.
  4. Verify one of the following:
    • The last four characters of your main account password.
    • The full PIN number on your account.

Important Note: If you cannot meet these requirements, please contact the account owner for assistance, or ask a customer support agent what else you can do to verify your ownership of the hosting account. Also, for security purposes, we will not confirm the name we have listed on file.
