Purchasing or Renewing SSL Certificates
SSL Certificates can be purchased and renewed directly from your cPanel. Please review SSL Certificate Information for general information about SSL's.
How to Purchase a New SSL Certificate
Please follow these steps to purchase a new SSL Certificate.
Note: Legacy accounts will feature a horizontal navigation bar at the top of the screen, while Bluerock account users will see a vertical navigation menu on the left-hand side of the screen. If you are still unsure whether what interface your account uses, please see Bluerock vs. Legacy to determine which step to follow
Bluerock
- Log in to your Bluehost control panel.
- Click Marketplace from the left-side navigation menu.
- Scroll down to Featured Products, then make sure it is under Popular Tab.
- Under the popular tab, select an SSL Certificate.
- From the SSL Certificate page, you can select either of the two packages, which are the following:
- Single Domain SSL - Great for one website that handles sensitive customer information.
- Single + Subdomain SSL- Great for one website with subdomains that handles sensitive customer information
To learn more about these two SSL certificates, please contact our support.
- Click the Add to Cart button of the selected SSL package.
- There would be an option for Auto-Renew and Manual Renewal. Once you select your preference, click the add to cart button to proceed with the ordering process.
Here's a walk-through where you can purchase the SSL certificate in your account.
Legacy
- Log in to your Bluehost control panel.
- Click addons in the main header.
- Select either Security to limit the options or scroll down to SSL certificates and select Learn more.
- In the top right, select the domain you need to install the SSL on.
- Select the SSL you wish to purchase.
- If needed, for added security measures, you may need to validate the SSL by email. If none of the addresses exist, create one of the email addresses. (See below for a list of approved addresses.)
- Choose the renewal option as well as the email address used to verify your SSL Certificate.
- Click the Add to Cart button.
- Complete Payment.
- If you have to validate by email, please check the email address to complete the process. There will be a validation link to click in that email and a code to type in at that link.
- Your SSL will be automatically installed, configured, and enabled for your use.

The SSL certificate will not be installed until this process is completed. Please refer to our article Comodo Positive SSL Certificate Seal if you wish to display a security seal on your website.
How to Renew your SSL Certificate
Your SSL should be set to renew automatically. If you wish to renew manually:

- Log in to your Bluehost control panel.
- Click on the addons tab at the top of the screen.
- Select either Security to limit the options or scroll down to SSL certificates and select Learn more.
- In the top right, select the domain you need to install the SSL on.
- Select Show Renewal Options.
- Check Renew Now and click the Save Selection button.
- Process Payment for the SSL.
- If you have to validate by email, please check the email address to complete the process. There will be a validation link to click in that email and a code to type in at that link.
- Your SSL will be automatically installed, configured, and enabled for your use.
