WordPress: Resetting your Password

This article explains how to reset a lost WordPress password using either the Bluehost or the WordPress Reset Password options.

If you have access to your Bluehost account, this can be done from the Websites tab. If you have access to the admin email address, you can request a password reset from the WordPress Admin (wp-admin) log in page.

Websites Tab

To perform this task, you will need to be logged in to your Bluehost account. Once logged in:

  1. Click the Websites tab from the side navigation menu to the left.
  2. Hover over the website you wish to update the password for, and click the SETTINGS button.
  3. The website overview will load; click the USERS tab.
  4. From here, you will see the username, email address, and role. Click the vertical three-dot (⋮) icon to Reset Password

You will be taken into WP Admin to reset the password.

WordPress Admin

These steps explain how to change the password using the password reset link on the WP Admin login page.

  1. Go to your WordPress Admin page (domain.com/wp-admin).
  2. Click the Lost your password link.
  3. Enter the username or email address associated with your WordPress site, and click Get New Password.

The password reset will be sent to the admin email address for the WordPress installation.
