How To Unassign A Domain Name

Important Note: The primary domain on your account cannot be unassigned. 

Follow these steps to access the Domain Manager and unassign your domain:



Accessing the Domain Manager

Domains can be assigned and unassigned from the Domain Manager. The steps for accessing the Domain Manager will vary depending on which type of account you have. To begin, you will need to sign in to your Bluehost account.

Note: The Advanced tab will load your cPanel. Legacy accounts will feature a horizontal navigation bar at the top of the screen, while Bluerock account users will see a vertical navigation menu on the left-hand side of the screen. To learn more, please see Bluerock vs. Legacy.

Unassigning Domains

Bluerock

  1. Click the Domains tab from the side navigation to the left of your screen.
  2. Find the domain you wish to update.
  3. Click the Manage  button, then choose Unassign from the drop-down menu that appears.

  4. Scroll down and select the domain from the list on the left.
  5. On the Main tab to the right, click the Un-assign next to the cPanel type.

Legacy

  1. Click the domains tab from the navigation menu that stretches across the top of your screen.
  2. Scroll down and select the domain from the list on the left.
  3. On the Main tab to the right, scroll down and click Unassign next to the cPanel type. 
  4. On the next page, click Unassign Domain.

Note: Once your domain(s) has been unassigned, you will be taken back to the Domain Manager.
