Blue Host is a great hosting platform especially for static sites, as they are competitively priced and even on the lower tiers of the hosting plan - I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted on my webserver. I built out my own WordPress plug-in that was a custom API to exchange data from some web apps I built directly with my sites MySQL database on Blue Host. Used Cron jobs extensively - consistently wrote PHP Code directly on the fileserver - and could get on the root folder and add, do anything I needed - like edit the .htaccess file or .robots file - to complex systems and integrated platforms work. And having cPanel access is fantastic, which Blue Host has even on their introductory plans.
