AI agents and workflow tools handle a constant stream of small decisions: is this message spam, which team should get this ticket, is this action safe to run. Handling each one with a full LLM call works, but it costs more time and money than the decision needs.
Bluehost AI Gateway supports Jev, a decision model from TypeSafe AI, for Self-Managed VPS and VDS customers. Jev returns a typed answer, a yes or no, a pick from a list, or a score, that your code can use directly, through the same Bluehost AI Gateway key and AI Credits balance you already use for LLM access.
What is Jev?
Jev is TypeSafe AI’s decision model. Instead of generating text, it evaluates predefined decisions and returns a typed answer your code can use right away.
Ask an LLM for a decision and you typically get a paragraph your code has to interpret. Ask Jev the same question and you get the decision itself, in one of three forms:
- Yes or no, with a probability attached. TypeSafe AI’s own docs call this a “Noul”; Bluehost refers to it simply as a yes or no.
- Choice, a pick from a list you define, with a probability for every option plus an overall confidence value.
- Score, a rating on a rubric you define, such as calm, frustrated or very angry, with a confidence value.
You can send several questions about the same content in one request, and Jev answers them together, so asking more than one costs little extra time. Jev does not chat, write code, or hold a conversation: it works alongside your app’s existing LLM as a fast layer for the small decisions buried in your code, not a replacement for it.
Built for speed and cost
TypeSafe AI’s co-founder confirms Jev runs 20 to 200 times faster and 40 to 400 times cheaper than a standard LLM call, on decision tasks such as classification. Jev is priced at $0.042 per million input tokens, with output tokens free.
Because every question in a request runs in parallel, asking more than one adds little to the response time. That mix of typed answers, speed, and low cost is what makes Jev worth adding alongside the LLM you already call.
Five jobs you can hand to Jev
Every agent or workflow already makes calls like these, often by asking a full LLM. Jev answers them directly; your code decides what happens next.
| Job | What your code asks Jev |
| Route | Which team or model should handle this? |
| Gate | Is this action safe to run, before a tool call fires? |
| Rerank | Which result is most relevant? |
| Verify | Does this output meet the criteria you set? |
| Judge | Is this response correct? |
These checks only run if you build them in: the gate job, for example, only pauses an agent before a risky action once you turn it on.
One key, one wallet, eleven apps ready today
Jev is reached through the same Bluehost AI Gateway key and AI Credits balance you already use for LLM access. There is no separate TypeSafe AI account to open, no second key, and no second bill: add AI Credits, create one Gateway key, and call Jev with it.
Integration effort depends on the app. Workflow tools such as n8n, Langflow, Dify, and Sim connect through a built-in HTTP or API block, no custom code required. Agents such as Claude Code, OpenClaw, GatorClaw, NanoClaw, Hermes Agent, BMAD, and Paperclip already run a full LLM, so Jev sits alongside it as a fast checker with a small integration layer. These eleven apps have a defined Jev integration path today, out of the sixteen apps eligible for Bluehost AI Gateway.
Who can benefit from Jev?
Jev is best suited for developers and builders who want to make AI workflows faster and more cost-efficient. It can benefit:
- AI app builders running agents such as OpenClaw and Hermes Agent or workflows using n8n on Bluehost Self-Managed VPS or VDS.
- Indie SaaS founders looking to reduce costs for routine classification tasks.
- Developers who need faster, lower-cost decisions within their AI workflows.
Jev is not designed for enterprise teams with existing provider contracts, bring-your-own-key workloads, or large-scale model training.
