WordCamp Asia 2025 took place from February 20 to 22, 2025, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila, Philippines. February 22, 2025 (Saturday) – Conference Day 2 

The event continued with more sessions, networking opportunities, and YouthCamp, a program designed for young WordPress enthusiasts. The day concluded with an after-party at The Forum at PICC. 

Understanding WordCamps: More than just a tech conference 

WordCamps are community-driven events focused on WordPress, the open-source platform that powers over 40% of the web. These gatherings bring together users, developers, designers, and enthusiasts to share knowledge, network, and contribute to the WordPress project.  

WordCamp Asia serves as the flagship WordPress event for the continent, highlighting the growth and diversity of its community.

Contributor Day: Be part of WordPress history 

Contributor Day, held on February 20, was a key part of WordCamp Asia.  

Participants worked across different teams, contributing to core development, design, documentation, accessibility, and marketing. No prior experience was needed—just a willingness to learn and contribute. 

Bluehost at WordCamp Asia 

As an Administrator Sponsor, Bluehost participated by showcasing tools, offering expert insights, and engaging with the community. Visitors to the Bluehost booth explored the AI-Powered Site Generator, which simplifies website creation with customizable templates and smart content generation. 

Bluehost also introduced Bluehost Cloud, a hosting solution optimized for WordPress, offering enhanced performance, scalability, and 24/7 expert support. 

In collaboration with Yoast, Bluehost highlighted the importance of SEO and website optimization, helping attendees maximize their online presence. 

Day II 

Day II was packed with engaging sessions and plenty of excitement at the Bluehost booth. Attendees had the chance to participate in fun games and product demos, making learning about Bluehost’s products an interactive experience. The day wrapped up with the much-anticipated after-party at The Forum at PICC, where attendees celebrated their shared passion for WordPress. 

Solutions spotlight & Bluehost’s session 

The Solutions Spotlight sessions provided an in-depth look at innovative tools and services from sponsors. Jocelyn Hendrikson hosted Bluehost’s session, offering insights into hosting solutions that simplify WordPress management. Attendees learned about AI-powered site creation and best practices for running a successful website. 

Exclusive swag & giveaways 

Attendees at the Bluehost booth enjoyed exclusive swag, including reusable travel mugs co-branded with Bluehost and Yoast, and creative sticker sheets featuring fun designs. These items were a hit among attendees, adding a personal and memorable touch to their WordCamp experience. 

A highlight of the event was the raffle, where lucky attendees took home incredible prizes. Bluehost and Yoast hosted the raffle, and winners walked away with apple watch, apple airpods & DJI Mini drone. Visitors stopped by the booth for a chance to win!

Speaker sessions & key takeaways 

Several industry experts shared their knowledge throughout the event. Notable sessions included: 

Jonathan Desrosiers, Senior Software Engineer at Bluehost, spoke on “The Unavoidable Truth: WordPress is Insecure where he discussed on how to think with a security first mindset, how to write secure code, and how to protect your site against the number one threat: humans. 

More notable sessions: 

Katie Keith spoke on, “From Code to Commerce: My Transition from Agency to Plugin Entrepreneur.” where she took attendees behind the scenes of my journey from running a WordPress web design agency to building a multi-million dollar plugin company. 

Riad Benguella spoke on, “DataViews and DataForms: The future of structured content in WordPress.” DataViews and DataForms: The Future of Structured Content in WordPress.” This session explored how these two APIs can enhance WordPress development and demonstrated practical ways to integrate them into plugins and projects today. 

Ryan Welcher gave a talk on “The Block Developer Cookbook: WC Asia 2025 Edition.” This session introduced new development approaches leveraging the latest features in WordPress 6.7, including the Block Bindings API, Plugin Template Registration API, and Preview Options API. 

Birgit Pauli-Haack spoke on, “Create a demo with Playground.” This session demonstrated how to use blueprints to pre-configure a Playground instance, enabling developers to showcase plugins or themes interactively to potential customers.  

YouthCamp: Inspiring the next generation 

On February 22, YouthCamp introduced kids and teens (ages 8-17) to WordPress. Participants created their own websites, learned web hosting basics, and explored open-source software through hands-on workshops and activities. Bluehost and Yoast gifted cool bottles to attendees, making for a memorable takeaway from the event. 

Celebrating with the community 

The event wrapped up with an After Party on February 22 at The Forum at PICC. Attendees celebrated the success of WordCamp Asia 2025 in a lively setting, enjoying music, networking, and Filipino culture.
