WordCamp Cebu 2024 was an exciting day for WordPress enthusiasts, held on August 24th at the Golden Peak Hotel in Cebu City. This event brought together a diverse group of developers, designers, marketers, and beginners eager to learn and connect. The theme, “The Future of WordPress, Right Here in Cebu,” set the tone for a day filled with innovation, learning, and networking. 

What made WordCamp Cebu 2024 special? 

This year’s WordCamp stood out as the only WordCamp happening in the Philippines, making it a unique opportunity for local WordPress users to come together before the larger WordCamp Asia event. Attendees enjoyed a variety of sessions that catered to all levels of experience. From beginners looking to set up their first blog to seasoned developers interested in the latest AI tools for WordPress, there was something for everyone.

This interaction helped attendees learn more about the practical applications of Bluehost’s tools and how they can enhance their WordPress experience.

Sessions to explore at the event 

The event offered a rich variety of sessions that catered to different interests and skill levels within the WordPress community. Here are some highlights from the event: 

Panel discussion on Cebu tech communities: This session provided an in-depth look at the vibrant tech communities in Cebu and their contributions to both the local and global tech landscape. It was an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn about how these communities operate, collaborate, and foster innovation. 

Job-seeking strategies for WordPress developers: Presented by Ajay Verma, this session was tailored for WordPress developers looking to advance their careers. Ajay shared practical advice on building a compelling resume, preparing for interviews, and leveraging networking opportunities to find the right job in the WordPress ecosystem. 

From code to leadership: Inspiring Engineers to Embrace Management Roles: John Ricaña’s session focused on helping technical professionals transition into leadership roles. He shared insights on the skills needed to move from coding to management, including effective communication, team leadership, and strategic planning. 

Creating authentic content in a digital age: With the rise of AI-generated content, Carla Joyce Aberion emphasized the importance of maintaining a unique voice in digital content creation. She discussed strategies to ensure content remains genuine and connects deeply with the audience, making it stand out in a crowded digital space. 

WordPress for kids – KidsCamp:  

Getting started with your first blog: Special sessions for young attendees were also part of the event. Ritchel Lauron and Yvonne Palanca-Lumagod led these kid-friendly workshops, teaching children the basics of WordPress and how to create their first blog. These sessions aimed to inspire the next generation of WordPress users and developers.
