How to Repair a Broken Database in Bluehost Portal

A broken website database can cause your site to go offline, display errors, or lose critical data. These issues are commonly caused by corrupted tables, configuration problems, or server-related errors. Using the Bluehost Portal, you can quickly identify and repair database issues with built-in tools designed to restore your site as fast as possible.

Step 1: Check the Database

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Portal.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Websites.
  3. Click the Manage button located next to the website you want to manage.

  1. On the Overview page, click Databases to open the Database Management panel.

  2. Locate the database associated with your website.
  3. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to the database name and select Check Database.

  4. Review the pop-up window displaying the Table Name and Status.

    Status results:

    • OK – The database is functioning properly.
    • Issues detected – Proceed to the repair step below.

Step 2: Repair the Broken Database

  1. In the Database Management panel, click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to the affected database and select Repair Database.

  2. Review the Repair Status in the pop-up window.

    Status results:

    • If the repair is successful, your website should return to normal operation.
    • If your site is still experiencing problems after running the repair tool, consider the following advanced options:
      • Use phpMyAdmin to manually optimize or repair corrupted database tables.
      • Restore your website from a recent backup using CodeGuard or Jetpack, if available.
      • Verify database configuration details (username, password, host) within your site settings.
