Restoring Backups with CodeGuard

One of the main benefits of CodeGuard is the automatic backup process. Once you have configured your first backup, CodeGuard will continue to monitor your site and take backups as changes are made. If you ever need to restore a previously backed-up version of your site, you can do so from within CodeGuard's Dashboard. Restoring backups with CodeGuard can be done in a few steps.



Restoring Backups

  1. Sign in to CodeGuard. If it is your first time accessing CodeGuard, check out How to Access CodeGuard.
  2. In the My Sites section, choose the backup that you'd like to replace the current content with.
  3. Click on the Action drop-down, and choose Restore.
  4. To see the restore options, click the Restore Options button.

  5. You can select one of the following restore options at this point:
    • Automatic Restore: By automatically replacing all of your current content with backup content, CodeGuard may automatically restore your website.
    • Download Zip: By asking for a zip file of a backup and manually replacing files on your site, you can perform a manual restore by yourself.
    • Selective Restore (applicable only for website restore): When a file is specified to be restored, CodeGuard will do so from a backup.

  6. You can see the progress of the backup procedure after it has begun. When the backup procedure is finished, the screen below will be displayed.

The restoration may take some time, depending on how much content is being restored. Once the restore has been completed, you may need to clear the browser cache and cookies to see the previous version of your site.

CodeGuard Restore Backup Issues

  1. Clicking the Issues tab in the CodeGuard dashboard will open the Backup Issues interface.
  2. To see more information, click the issue link:
