All Day

WordCamp US 2025 lit up Portland, Oregon from August 26–29, and Bluehost was proud to be right in the middle of it all. 💙 As longtime supporters of the WordPress community, sponsoring this year’s flagship event was more than an honor, it was a joy.

Over four inspiring days, developers, designers, creators, and contributors from around the world came together with open hearts and bright ideas to connect, collaborate, and shape the future of the open web.

Why WordCamp matters

WordCamp is not your typical tech conference, it’s the heartbeat of the community. Grassroots, volunteer-driven, and overflowing with energy, it’s where ideas turn into action and friendships into collaborations. WCUS 2025 was no exception. From inspiring keynotes to hands-on sessions and those unforgettable hallway chats, Portland became a showcase of what makes WordPress truly powerful: people coming together to share, learn, and build the future of the open web.

Event highlights

Contributor Day: August 26

We kicked things off with Contributor Day, where our team joined Yoast and hundreds of others in giving back to WordPress. From documentation and accessibility to core development and design, the room was alive with collaboration. First-timers sat side by side with seasoned contributors, learning, teaching, and creating together. It was an inspiring reminder that WordPress doesn’t just grow because of its technology, it thrives because of its people.

Alongside Yoast, our booth was a buzzing hub of activity all week. Thousands of attendees stopped by to:

  • Play our Buzz Wire game, join live demos, and participate in an epic raffle with prizes like a Nintendo Switch 2, a Treehouse LEGO set, and a VR headset.

The energy was incredible, thank you to everyone who came by to connect, share ideas, and join the fun.

Our team had an incredible time at WCUS 2025, from Contributor Day to booth conversations and late-night hallway chats, every moment was filled with energy, learning, and connection. It was not only inspiring but also a whole lot of fun to share the experience with such a passionate WordPress community.

Giveaways & raffle

Of course, it wouldn’t be WordCamp without a little fun. Our Buzz Wire game drew steady crowds as attendees tested their skills, and the excitement peaked with our raffle, featuring big-ticket prizes like a Nintendo Switch 2, a Treehouse LEGO set, and a VR headset.

Between live demos, hallway chats, and spontaneous conversations, the booth never stopped buzzing. Sticker sheets and playing cards flew off the table, but it was the raffle that stole the show, winners walked away thrilled, and the energy around our booth never slowed down.

Sessions you shouldn’t miss

Across the three main days, attendees heard from thought leaders including:

  • Matt Mullenweg (co-founder of WordPress) took the stage at WCUS 2025 to introduce Telex, the new AI block creator, and reflect on WordPress’s continued growth.
  • Danny Sullivan (Google) on the future of search and WordPress.
  • Amy Sample Ward (NTEN) on building an equitable future through technology.
  • Dr. Adam Gazzaley on how neuroscience and AI intersect with mental well-being.

We were especially proud of Evan Mullins, Senior Software Engineer at Bluehost, who presented “Contributing by Testing WordPress.” His session highlighted how automated, user, and beta testing make WordPress stronger, and how even non-developers can play a role in shaping its future.

Beyond our own talks, WCUS 2025 was packed with practical sessions on security, content strategy, and e-commerce. A few standouts included:

  • Seth Rubenstein on Block Composability.
  • Dennis Ploetner on Improving WordPress Multisite.
  • James LePage and the Core AI team on What We’re Building.
  • Bud Kraus on Using Low Vision to Teach WordPress.
  • Arnas Donauskas on Fixing and Optimizing Websites with AI.
  • Elijah Potter on Democratizing Writing Assistance with ML at the Edge.

Until next time

WordCamp US 2025 reminded us exactly why we keep showing up year after year: to connect deeply, contribute meaningfully, and celebrate this one-of-a-kind community that makes WordPress what it is.

To everyone who stopped by our booth, joined Evan’s session, or rolled up their sleeves at Contributor Day, thank you. Your energy, curiosity, and passion are what fuel moments like these.

We’re heading home inspired, grateful, and already excited for the next WordCamp. Together, we’re not just building websites, we’re building the future of the open web.

Check out all the fun we had here!

💙 Until next time, Portland, see you in Phoenix for WCUS 2026!
