What is a vCPU?
The technical answer to this question starts with its definition. A vCPU is a virtual centralized processing unit. As for a definition, a vCPU represents a portion or share of the underlying, physical CPU that is assigned to a virtual server. In the case of Bluehost Cloud hosting, a vCPU is synonymous with a PHP worker, which is a background process on the sever that runs PHP code to handle requests to and from your website. The non-technical answer is vCPUs are like sled dogs helping your website move quickly in the direction and purpose that it was intended. The more you have, the faster and more "weight" your website can handle at any given time. They work to fulfill the requests of your visitors as they interact with your website, so the more vCPU your website has, the more traffic and requests your website can receive and process at once.
How many vCPUs can I have per website?
vCPUs are a pooled resource at the account level. Each site is limited to a max of 10 vCPUs (aka PHP workers). For example, while you can buy Cloud 25 with 75 vCPUs, you cannot add all 75 vCPUs to one site. The max is 10 for one site. However, you can then use the remaining vCPUs for the other websites on your account.
Can I use WordPress Multisite?
At this time, we do not support or allow WordPress Multisite. The Cloud 10 and above packages all allow for multiple websites to be created under a single Bluehost Cloud account, but each site is its own independent WordPress installation.
