Microsoft 365 Discontinuation for Tenants Not Supported Under Our New Reseller Partnership

Due to recent unexpected changes to Microsoft’s Direct Reseller Partnership program and new service restrictions imposed by Microsoft, our Microsoft Partner status has changed. In response to these changes, Bluehost will need to move all existing Microsoft 365 services to a new Microsoft Reseller tenant. Because of limitations in the reseller transition process, a small number of Microsoft 365 tenants that we previously supported cannot be moved to our new Microsoft Tenant. As a result, Microsoft subscriptions are at risk of service disruption after August 29, 2026. We strongly recommend taking action on or before August 29, 2026, to avoid service disruption.

What This Means for You

To avoid service disruption, you must move your Microsoft 365 licenses to Microsoft directly, to a different Microsoft partner, or to an alternative email and productivity platform before August 29, 2026 to avoid an interruption in service.

Back up your data now. Do not wait until close to the deadline. Export and back up email, files, and any other data stored in your Microsoft 365 tenant as soon as possible so that nothing is lost during the transition.

Why is this Happening?

Microsoft 365 subscriptions sold through a reseller are tied to a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partner relationship between your tenant and the reseller. We are required to transition to an indirect reseller partnership with Ingram Micro, and each tenant must be eligible for transfer under that partnership.

Certain tenants are not supported under the new partnership and therefore cannot be transferred. The most common reason is that the tenant is registered outside of the United States. Where a tenant cannot be transferred, we will no longer able to provide, bill, or support the Microsoft 365 subscription beyond the service end date.

Who is Affected?

Affected customers have a Microsoft 365 tenant that is not supported under the new reseller partnership, for example, tenants located outside of the United States.

What are my Options?

You have three paths forward. Choose the one that best fits your business, then complete the move before August 29, 2026.

Option 1: Become a Direct Microsoft Customer

Move your Microsoft licenses directly to Microsoft and pay Microsoft for the subscription. Your tenant, email addresses, and data stay in place, and billing and support move to Microsoft. For Microsoft’s full guidance on this, please see Resolve subscriptions detached from CSP partners in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Option 2: Move to a Different Microsoft Partner

Establish a partner relationship with another Microsoft-certified solution provider, who will then manage your subscription. For Microsoft’s full guidance on this, please see Resolve subscriptions detached from CSP partners in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Option 3: Move to an Alternative Email and Productivity Solution

Migrate to a different platform, such as Google Workspace or a Professional Email service. This option requires exporting your existing mail and files and importing them into the new platform, so allow additional time.

What Should I Do Now?

  • Back up your data. Export mailboxes, OneDrive and SharePoint files, and any other business-critical data from your tenant.
  • Choose your path. Decide whether you will go direct with Microsoft, move to another partner, or migrate to a different platform. For Microsoft’s full guidance on this, please see Resolve subscriptions detached from CSP partners in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  • Complete the move before August 29, 2026. Use the Microsoft 365 Admin Portal to make the necessary changes while you still have access.
  • Confirm mail flow and access. After the move, verify that email is sending and receiving correctly and that all users can sign in.
Take action immediately. You retain access to your Microsoft 365 Admin Portal until August 29, 2026. If no action is taken before that date, your Microsoft 365 service will stop and data in the tenant may become inaccessible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I lose my email address or domain?
A: Your domain is separate from your Microsoft 365 subscription and is not cancelled by this change. If you move your tenant to Microsoft direct or to another partner, your existing email addresses continue to work. If you migrate to a different platform, you will recreate your mailboxes there and update your domain’s mail records.
Q: What happens to my data after August 29, 2026?
A: Once the subscription ends, data stored in the tenant through that subscription may no longer be accessible. Back up everything you need before the service end date.
Q: Can Bluehost move the tenant for me?
A: No. Because the tenant is not supported under the new reseller partnership, the transfer cannot be completed on your behalf. The change must be initiated from your Microsoft 365 Admin Portal, either by you or by the new partner you select.
Q: Will I be billed by Bluehost after the service end date?
A: No. Billing for the affected Microsoft 365 subscription ends with the service. Any subscription you establish with Microsoft directly, with a new partner, or with an alternative provider will be billed by that provider.
Q: Where can I find more details?
A: See the frequently asked questions in the full transition guide, paying particular attention to the section on “Tenants outside of the US.”
