Script Cannot Make Outbound Connection
If you see the error "Script Cannot Make Outbound Connection" when trying to connect to a remote system, please see the explanation below.
Resolution
Our shared IP addresses only allow outbound connections on ports 80 (http) and 443 (https). If you need to use a port other than these, you must purchase a dedicated IP. To learn more about ports and port access requirements, visit the article: Understanding Shared IP vs. Dedicated IP.
Note:
- The purchase of a Dedicated IP is not offered in your Bluehost account. However, we are working to make this feature available to our customers. We ask for your continued patience during this process. We will notify you as soon as the Dedicated IP option becomes accessible.
- We do not allow outbound connections to ports 25 and 465 with or without a dedicated IP to discourage spam from our servers.
