How to Restore Website Files and Database with Xcitium

The Backup Restore feature allows you to recover your website files and database when issues occur—such as errors, missing files, or data corruption.

Access Backup Restore

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Portal.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Websites.
  3. Click the Manage button located next to the website you want to manage.

  1. Click Backups in the top menu.
  2. Under Premium Backup Services, click Manage for Xcitium.

  3. In the left menu, go to Backup and click View Backup History.

  4. Click Options next to the backup you want to restore.

Choose Your Restore Option

You will be prompted to select what type of restore to perform:

Before You Restore

Important reminders before proceeding:

  • Restoring will overwrite your current files or database.
  • You cannot undo a restore unless another backup exists.
  • Always download a backup copy first for safety.
  • Ensure you select the correct backup date/version.

File Restore

Use this option to recover website files:

Option 1: Restore All Files (Full Website Recovery)

Use this if your entire site needs to be restored.

Best for:

  • Completely broken website
  • Full site recovery

Steps:

  1. Go to File Restore.
  2. Click Auto Restore All Files.

  3. Confirm the Auto Restore action.

    • All your current files will be replaced.
    • You’ll see a success message when complete.

Option 2: Restore Selected Files (Targeted Recovery)

Use this if only part of your site needs fixing.

Best for:

  • Missing images or assets
  • Fixing specific errors

Steps:

  1. Go to File Restore.
  2. Click Selective Auto Restore.

  3. Select files or folders you want to restore.

  4. Click Continue.
  5. Confirm overwrite then click Restore.

    • Once the restore starts, it cannot be stopped.
    • Only selected files are restored.
    • Other files remain unchanged.

Database Restore

Use this option to restore your entire website database.

Best for:

  • Corrupted database
  • Incorrect website content

Steps:

  1. Go to Database Restore.
  2. Click Auto Restore Database.

  3. Confirm the Auto Restore action.

    • Your database will be fully replaced.
    • Includes content, users, and settings.

Track Restore Progress

To monitor your restore:

  1. Return to the Backup History dashboard.
