How to Add a DKIM Record

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) helps improve email deliverability by allowing receiving servers to verify that your emails are authorized and haven’t been altered.

Step 1: Check DKIM Status

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Portal.
  2. Click Hosting in the left-hand menu.
  3. In the hosting details page, click the File Manager button.

  4. Your File Manager will open in a new tab.


     

  1. Navigate to the Email section and select Email Deliverability.

  2. Locate the domain you want to configure.

  3. Click Manage next to the domain.

If you see a yellow banner that says “Problems Exist (DKIM)”, this means DKIM is not yet set up for the domain.

Step 2: Copy the Suggested DKIM Record 

  1. Under the DKIM section, locate the Suggested DKIM (TXT) Record

  2. Copy the following details:
    • Name
    • Value
  3. Do not click the Install the Suggested Record button.

Step 3: Add the DKIM Record in the Bluehost Portal

  1. Go to the DNS tab.

  2. Click + Add Record.

  3. Select Single Record.

Step 4: Enter the DKIM Record Details

Fill in the fields as follows:

  1. Record Type: TXT
  2. Refers to: Other Host
  3. Host Name: Domain Name
  4. TXT Value: Paste the Value you copied in Step 2.
  5. Click Add to save the record.

Step 5: Allow DNS Propagation

Please allow 24–48 hours for DNS changes to propagate. Once complete, the DKIM status should update automatically.
