As part of our commitment to WordPress, we recently made the decision to offer PHP 7 as the default for all WordPress customers. This is an exciting announcement — and a step closer to an even more performant platform. We benchmarked the benefits with the new 2017 WordPress theme using Web Page Test, and the results speak for themselves: we have seen a performance gain of several hundred milliseconds from PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.
All new customers signing up for WordPress hosting will receive PHP 7 as their default version. Existing customers can easily update to PHP 7 in their Bluehost control panel.
