Bluehost Account Manager Websites Domains Tab

Connecting your domain name to your website is an essential step in building a professional online presence. Once you’ve created your site, you’ll need to link it with your custom domain so visitors can access it easily. In the Bluehost Account Manager, this process is straightforward and can be managed directly from the Domains tab in your website settings.

How to Navigate the Domains Tab

  1. Log in to your Bluehost Account Manager.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Websites.
  3. Click the MANAGE button located next to the website you want to manage.

Domain Settings Page Overview

From the Domains tab, you can manage all aspects of how your domain name connects to your website. Options include:

Websites - Domains Tab

  • Connected Domains: View a list of domain names and temporary domains already linked to your website. This may include your primary domain, addon domain, or a subdomain.
  • Add Domain: Use this option if you want to connect an existing domain to your Bluehost website.
  • Redirects: Set up redirects to point one domain or URL to another, useful for managing multiple domains or specific pages.

Managing DNS and Domain Settings

When you connect your domain, you may need to update your domain’s DNS settings through your domain registrar’s website. Depending on your provider, this may involve:

  • Updating the name servers to point to your hosting provider’s nameservers.
  • Editing DNS records, such as the A record, CNAME record, or IP addresses, to direct traffic to your Bluehost hosting account.
  • Confirming changes in your domain registrar account and allowing time for DNS propagation (this can take up to 48 hours).
If your domain remains registered with another provider, the management of the domain’s DNS records and server settings will still be done in the registrar’s control panel. Bluehost will host your website files once the domain is correctly pointed.

Summary

In the Bluehost Account Manager, you can connect your domain name to your website through the Domains tab in the site’s settings. From there, you can view connected domains, add a new domain, or set up redirects.

If your domain is registered with another provider, you may need to update the DNS settings or name servers in your registrar’s account to point the domain to Bluehost. Once the settings are saved and DNS propagation is complete, your website will be accessible through your custom domain.
