What's in the Domains' Overview Tab?
Please note that the Overview tab is only available for domains registered with Bluehost.
Under the Overview tab, you will find the following sections:
- Status
- Owner, Domain Privacy + Protection, and Account
- Expiration Date and Autorenew
- Expiration Protection
- Domain Lock
- Connections
- Purchase domains
Status
The Status section will show the domain's current status.
This section will display if the domain is available for use (Active) or not (Expired, in Redemption, etc.). Here are some examples of domain statuses that you may encounter in the Status section.
Active![]() |
Expired![]() |
Pending Verification![]() |
Pending Transfer Out![]() |
If the domain is expired, in Redemption, suspended, on hold, or has failed renewal, etc., a notification similar to the image below will appear at the top of your Account Manager, reminding you to renew your domain to restore it.
Owner, Domain Privacy + Protection, and Account
The Owner and Domain Privacy + Protection card displays the ID# and domain owner in the account and the status of the Domain Privacy/Domain Privacy + Protection service. The Domain Privacy + Protection (DPP) helps keep your personal and business contact information, like your name, address, email, and phone number, private while still providing valid contact details for your domain. With the "Protection" feature, it also provides the following additional functionalities:
- Daily malware scanning
- Blacklist monitoring
- SMS domain alerts
Use the toggle to enable or disable the Domain Privacy/Domain Privacy + Protection service.
Expiration Date and Autorenew
This section displays the domain's expiration date and the status of the Autorenew feature. With the Autorenew feature enabled, the domain will be renewed automatically before its expiration date, ensuring that you keep the domain. Keep in mind that when the Autorenew feature is disabled, you are responsible for manually renewing your domain before its expiration date.
Important:
- Domain renewals are non-refundable.
- Renewing your domain is separate from renewing the hosting plan or the Domain Privacy/Domain Privacy + Protection service.
A RENEW NOW button is also available to make it easier to renew your domain.
Expiration Protection
This section displays the status of the Expiration Protection addon for the domain. Domain Expiration Protection (DEP) is like insurance for the domain, keeping it secure for up to one year if renewal fails. It prevents high reinstatement fees and the loss of the domain, making it an important addon for the domain.
If the domain has no DEP, click the Add Expiration Protection link to purchase one.
Domain Lock
This section shows if the domain is currently locked or unlocked. The Domain Lock is a security feature that protects the domain from unauthorized transfers to another registrar.
If the Domain Lock is disabled, the domain can be transferred out of the account. A Request Auth Code link will appear that can be used to request the EPP code/Authorization Code necessary for the transferring the domain to another registrar.
Domain Connections
The Connections section shows the services linked to the domain. You can assign or unassign the domain from a hosting or email service within this section.
If there is no service currently linked to the domain, click the + ADD button and select the hosting plan or Professional Email service.
Purchase Domains
This section allows you to register new domains and add Domain Privacy + Protection.
